Traditional Naturopathy
Traditional Naturopathy encompasses a holistic approach to healing. Therapies are specific to each individual’s level of health, their history and goals for wellness. The paradigm of Traditional Naturopathy is based on the belief that one’s body has an innate ability to heal from imbalances in one’s health when provided the most optimal tools for recovery such as water, nutrients, removal of accumulated waste, rest, functional activity, a positive mind, a clear sense of purpose in life and a healthy response to every day stressors. This paradigm is not so different from Immunology’s belief of the body understanding the molecular and cellular components that comprise the immune system, including their function and interaction. The immune system has been divided into a more primitive innate immune system, and acquired or adaptive immune system of vertebrates, the latter of which is further divided into humoral and cellular components.
The ultimate goal for Traditional Naturopathy is to determine the root cause of one’s state of health that has developed a set of symptoms leading to disease. By focusing treatment on the core issue, the body has an ability to resolve the affects of the condition and many times the symptoms begin to resolve as well. In relation to The Hippocratic Oath of traditional medicine Traditional Naturopathy follows the belief of do no harm. A Traditional Naturopath appreciates that all forms of healthcare has its levels for success and limitations. Traditional Naturopathy empowers the patient to develop a team of healthcare professionals in an effort to ensure the patient achieves their highest level of function.
