Job Task Analysis (JTA) / Physical Demand Assessments (PDA)

Job Task Analysis provides the attending physician or physical therapy clinic with a good understanding of the injured worker's job and the physical demands of the job and helps identify essential and non-essential functions.  This service is performed as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with Work Transition.

Occupational Kinetics will develop a customized Job Task Analysis for your company which is ADA Standardized and can be used as a formal job description. In addition we will use this tool to develop a one page summary of the job which we call a Physical Demand Assessment (PDA). This is a summary which goes direct to the treating physician in the community quantifying the essential physical demands of your work place by job title or department. Physicians now have an objective tool to address work restrictions and functional abilities of your employee.

Your employee is asked to bring this PDA with her/him to the physician, have it signed and bring it right back to work that day or the immediate next working day. Now you have an internal case management tool to hold your employee accountable for their recovery and work injury care. We have found that physicians value this tool so that they are more informed when making return to work restrictions reducing their potential for liability.

In Kentucky where employees have the direct right to choose their medical provider where in other states the employer has control, our JTA’s coupled with the PDA’s have been effective in establishing the desired management control. It also assists in educating the physicians that your organization is serious about injury cost management and have a strong commitment to returning the injured employee back to work as soon as functionally possible. Our JTA’s reduce the delay in getting your employee back to the Occupational Kinetics onsite rehabilitation program.

With this service Occupational Kinetics will develop a Structured-Return to Work program cataloging each job title by department and listed according the U.S. Department of Labor Standards physical demands. This tool will be useful to your staff when defining placement and determine accommodation for injured or disabled employees.
